Review Report Released

The second triennial review of NOPSA's operational effectiveness is now completed. The Independent Review Panel has presented their report to the Minister for Resources and Energy, the Hon. Martin Ferguson, on November 29th. The Minister will now consider the report and has released it publically. The full text of the report is available for downloading. The Minister for Resources and Energy, the Hon. Martin Ferguson, commissioned the 2011 NOPSA Operational Review in accordance with the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 (OPGGSA).

Under section 695 of the Act, the Minister is required to initiate a review of NOPSA every three years, and includes an assessment of NOPSA’s operational effectiveness in its regulatory functions, which include inspection, enforcement and investigation activities concerning the health and safety of persons engaged in offshore petroleum operations.

The 2011 Operational Review also included reference to NOPSA’s engagement with stakeholders, particularly in relation to Safety Case development and implementation and the promotion of safety culture.
